Camelback Inn 75th Anniversary

Scottsdale’s JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa celebrates its 75th anniversary today, commemorating the occasion with a variety of special programming and events. The resort is offering spa specials at The Spa at Camelback Inn, a new prix-fixe menu at BLT Steak, a photo contest and an anniversary-themed room package.

Camelback Inn is one of the most beloved resorts in the Marriott profile, with a rich history and unique Southwestern style that has made it a favorite of generations of travelers. Set on 125 acres of cactus-studded Sonoran Desert terrain, Camelback Inn has been a AAA Five-Diamond resort for 35 years running and is one of the country’s most award-winning hotels. The resort has been a legendary fixture at the foot of Camelback Mountain since 1936. (The Marriott family proudly made the Camelback Inn its first resort in 1967.) The property cost $75,000 to build and accommodated 75 guests when it opened––very fitting for the 75th anniversary!

As part of its “diamond” anniversary celebration, Camelback Inn has unveiled the “Memory Collection” photo contest, where past guests of the resort are invited to submit their most fun-filled photos from previous stays at the resort over the past 75 years. The photos will be judged by a panel including current and past Resort General Managers. The contest opens today and will run through March 15; a total of 75 overnight stays will be given away with one grand prize of a seven-night stay at Camelback Inn. Photos must be submitted through Facebook, email, or mail. For details click on the "contest" tab on the right.

“While we continue to evolve with the times here at Camelback Inn, we still maintain the unique essence and soul of what the resort is, a legendary historical landmark embracing a true Arizona experience,” said Jim Rose, general manager of the JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa. “Generations have returned to Camelback for 75 years thanks to its authentic Southwestern spirit and unparalleled facilities, and we just keep getting better with age.” After 75 years, guests will find that Camelback's legendary motto still rings true – "In All the World, Only One."
